Why Most Apps Will Die (And Why the Smart Ones Won’t)

Let me tell you something most developers don’t want to admit.
We’re building stuff that AI is going to chew up and spit out.
Hard truth, right?
I used to sit at my desk and think, “What’s a cool app idea?” Something fun, flashy, maybe even a little clever.
But here’s the thing...
Clever doesn’t cut it anymore. Not in 2025. Not with AI breathing down your neck.
I don’t build apps the same way I used to.
Now, I ask one simple question:
Because AI is getting smarter. And fast.
Tools that once felt like magic — chatbots, text summarizers, even scheduling tools — are now default features in someone else's app.
Poof. Gone. Obsolete. Replaced by a plugin, a Chrome extension, or a new feature from OpenAI or Google.
So here’s the new playbook:
You build apps that leverage AI, not fight it.
Apps that get stronger the more powerful AI becomes.
Let me give you an example.
Imagine you’re building an app that helps people write their life stories. Basic, right?
Now… imagine it listens to their voice, organizes memories into a timeline, suggests improvements in their tone, pulls in photos, even styles it like Hemingway or your grandmother’s diary.
That’s not an app getting replaced by AI.
That’s an app riding the AI wave like a damn surfboard.
See the difference?
One type of app is asking, “How can I avoid getting destroyed by AI?”
The other is asking, “How can I partner with it and win?”
Here’s your shortcut:
Harsh? Maybe.
True? Absolutely.
So next time you brainstorm, don’t just think about what you can build.
Think about what AI can build with you.
That’s how you future-proof your ideas.
That’s how you win.
